Portable Appliance Testing
The Health and Safety at Work Act places a responsibility
on employers, employees and the self employed to provide and
maintain safe plant and equipment, this is endorsed by the
Electricity at Work Regulations.
Since a large percentage of all reportable accidents are caused
by portable appliances, it is hoped that with effective routine
maintenance the number of accidents may be reduced.
The Regulations require that testing should
be carried out by a competent person, all our testing is carried
out by trained members of staff who have considerable experience
in Portable Appliance Testing and are either qualified electricians
or hold the City & Guilds Certificate in Electrical Appliance
Testing.
We use the latest test equipment from Seaward as well as the
Metrotest range and are able to carry out tests to Class I,
II, and III equipment to BS 2769,3456,4743, 5850,415 and EAWR.
Reports are generated using Patguard Plus software and can
be supplied on CD for viewing if required.
This includes tests to both 240volt and 110volt equipment
ranging from drills to typewriters, kettles to calculators
etc.
The usual tests carried out are:
- Visual Inspection
- Fuse Rating
- Earth Continuity
- Insulation
- Load
- Earth Leakage
Prior to all these tests a visual check of the
appliance is carried out to ensure correct fuse size, connections
and damage.
